Mominul Haque Scores Century in India

Second Bangladeshi to Achieve Feat

Bangladesh batter Mominul Haque became only the second player from his country to score a Test century in India. He achieved this milestone during the second Test match of the two-match series against India at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium.

Mominul scored 107 runs in 194 balls, hitting 17 fours and 1 six. This makes him the second Bangladeshi to score a Test century in India, following Mushfiqur Rahim’s 127 runs in Hyderabad in 2017.

Since his debut in 2013, Mominul has played 65 Tests, scoring 4,263 runs at an average of 38.75, with 13 centuries and 19 fifties. His highest score is 181.

In the match, India won the toss and chose to field first. The game was interrupted by rain and a wet outfield, allowing play to resume only on day four. Shadman Islam and Najmul Hossain Shanto made positive contributions before Mominul’s century held the innings together. He also had a 54-run partnership with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, taking Bangladesh to a total of 233/10.

Jasprit Bumrah was the standout bowler for India, taking 3 wickets for 50 runs. Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Akash Deep each took two wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja took one.

India had previously won the first Test by 280 runs, with notable performances from Ravichandran Ashwin, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah. India leads the series 1-0.
