Mohammed Shami Aims for Comeback in Border-Gavaskar Trophy

In Bengaluru, India, star pacer Mohammed Shami is working hard to return to cricket in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After India’s eight-wicket loss to New Zealand, Shami practiced bowling for over an hour at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. He has been recovering from an ankle injury since November, which kept him out of the ODI World Cup 2023.

During his practice, India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and bowling coach Morne Morkel were present. Shami’s session lasted from 2:30 PM to 3:50 PM. Team captain Rohit Sharma emphasized the importance of Shami’s full recovery before he returns to international cricket. Due to swelling in Shami’s knees, his recovery has been delayed, and he is currently working with doctors and physios at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Rohit stated, “We don’t want to bring an undercooked Shami to Australia. We are keeping our fingers crossed.” The team management is focused on ensuring Shami is 100% fit before rejoining the national team.
