MNS Candidate Sandeep Deshpande Criticizes Aaditya Thackeray Ahead of Maharashtra Assembly Polls

As the Maharashtra Assembly elections draw near, Sandeep Deshpande, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) candidate for the Worli Assembly seat, has voiced criticism against the current MLA, Aaditya Thackeray. Deshpande claims that Thackeray, son of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, has not engaged with the residents of his constituency over the past five years.

Deshpande stated, “The leader (Aaditya Thackeray) from here has been absent for the last five years. The people have never met him. The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) projects remain incomplete. The BDD Chawl project, in which housing was to be allocated through a lottery, is riddled with corruption. No development work has been done in the chawls; hospitals lack ICUs, and Worli still has no private schools.” He added that Aaditya Thackeray only appears during elections.

Deshpande emphasized the need for change, stating, “The people believed they had chosen a prominent leader (Aaditya Thackeray), expecting development. But no such thing happened. There is no concept of a traditional seat; if you work for the people, they will elect you. The people want change now. I am connecting with people on the ground, explaining our plans to voters.”

The Worli constituency is set for a competitive election, with former Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora also contesting against Aaditya Thackeray and Sandeep Deshpande. The MNS, led by Raj Thackeray, is contesting independently in the assembly polls, despite supporting the Mahayuti alliance in the Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its second list of candidates for the upcoming elections, scheduled for November 20. Key candidates include Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis from Nagpur South West and state BJP president Chandrashekhar Krishnarao Bawankule from Kamthi.

As the election date approaches, both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are intensifying their campaigns. The elections will take place on November 20, with vote counting for all 288 constituencies on November 23.
