Missile Attack on Israeli Troops in Southern Lebanon: Injuries Reported

Missile Attack on Israeli Troops in Southern Lebanon

On Sunday, a large barrage of anti-tank missiles was fired at Israeli troops in southern Lebanon, according to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). The attack resulted in two soldiers being severely injured, while several others sustained light to moderate injuries. The families of the injured soldiers have been informed.

An IDF tank, attempting to evacuate the injured soldiers under fire, accidentally backed into a UNIFIL post. Once the enemy fire ceased, the tank left the post after the evacuation was completed. A smoke screen was used to cover the evacuation, and IDF soldiers coordinated with UNIFIL throughout the incident, ensuring no danger to UNIFIL forces.

Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Appeal

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, to withdraw UN peacekeeping forces from southern Lebanon. He expressed concerns about the safety of UNIFIL soldiers and Israeli troops, stating that the refusal to evacuate UNIFIL soldiers has made them hostages of Hezbollah, a terrorist group backed by Iran.

Netanyahu’s Address

In a video address, Netanyahu marked one year since the war against Iran’s axis of evil began. He emphasized Israel’s commitment to securing its future and defeating its enemies. Netanyahu highlighted the military’s achievements in Lebanon, including the elimination of Nasrallah and senior personnel, and the destruction of Hezbollah’s weapons, command centers, and tunnels.
