In response to concerns over deaths in Lakhpat village in Kachchh District due to suspected viral fever, state ministers Rushikesh Patel and Praful Pansheriya visited the area to assess the situation. Kachchh Collector Amit Arora shared details of the meeting, stating that the ministers took stock of the situation and directed precautionary steps. They also discussed the issue with viral experts from Ahmedabad and are awaiting reports from NIB Pune.

Minister Praful Pansheriya emphasized that the state government is taking preventive measures on a war footing. Samples from the victims have been collected and sent to NIB Pune. He mentioned that the Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is aware of the situation and that health teams are actively working in the affected areas, taking samples and spraying medicines.

Kachchh Collector Amit Arora provided updates, noting that more than 22 health teams are screening in Lakhpat and Abdasa. He mentioned that there is no clustering of deaths, suggesting no communicable disease. However, precautions are being taken, with four extra doctors handling screening and OPD. Out of 26 samples taken, 11 were tested and found negative for swine flu. Dengue was confirmed in one case and malaria in two cases in Bhenkra village.

There has been widespread concern in Gujarat’s Lakhpat and Abdasa talukas after 14 deaths, including six children, within four days due to suspected viral fever and pneumonia.
