Minister S Jaishankar and PM Modi Express Condolences for Hathras Stampede Victims

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar offered his condolences for the tragic stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, which resulted in 116 deaths and 18 injuries. He expressed his sympathy to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences and spoke with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. PM Modi assured that the state government is providing all possible help to the victims.

The stampede occurred at a religious event conducted by ‘Bhole Baba’ in Hathras. Police are currently searching for him. Deputy SP Sunil Kumar confirmed that ‘Baba ji’ was not found at the Ram Kutir Charitable Trust in Mainpuri district.

Aligarh Commissioner Chaitra V confirmed the death toll and the number of injured. Inspector General Shalabh Mathur stated that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and an FIR will be registered against the event organizers for exceeding the permitted number of attendees.

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced Rs 2 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.
