In New Delhi, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has responded to recent hoax bomb threats affecting various flights, including Indian airlines. He assured that necessary actions are being taken and dismissed any larger conspiracy behind these incidents.

Minister’s Statement

Minister Naidu stated, “Action is being taken on this. We can’t comment on any kind of a conspiracy but from whatever little bit we know these calls are coming from some minors and pranksters. These are all minor and isolated incidents. There is no kind of conspiracy that we can comment on. From our side, we are going to see what best we can do. We are talking to the airlines, security agencies, within the ministry also. Consultations are going on.”

Condemnation of Threats

He strongly condemned these “mischievous and unlawful” actions, emphasizing the importance of safety and security in aviation. “I am deeply concerned over the recent disruptive acts targeting Indian airlines, affecting domestic and international operations. Such mischievous and unlawful actions are a matter of grave concern, and I strongly condemn any attempts to compromise the safety, security, and operational integrity of our aviation sector,” he stated on the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s website.

High-Level Committee and Actions

Naidu chaired a high-level committee on October 14, including officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Central Industrial Security Force, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Ministry of Civil Aviation. He is monitoring the situation closely, and law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing all cases.

Arrests and Investigations

The Mumbai Police have arrested a minor responsible for bomb threats to three flights, and efforts are ongoing to identify and prosecute others involved. The Delhi Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections concerning a hoax bomb threat to an Akasa Air flight. A detailed investigation is underway, and social media accounts spreading false threats have been suspended.
