Gandhinagar, Gujarat, September 16: Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi held a bilateral meeting with Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Morten Bodskov during the ongoing RE-INVEST 2024 in Gandhinagar.

India’s Renewable Energy Goals

Minister Joshi highlighted India’s progress in renewable energy and invited Danish companies to invest in the sector. He mentioned India’s ambitious targets, including reaching 500 GW of non-fossil electricity capacity and achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.

India’s Achievements

India has become a leader in solar and wind energy, ranking fourth globally in renewable energy installed capacity. The government has doubled the financial allocation for renewable energy for the financial year 2024-25.

Collaboration with Denmark

Joshi and Bodskov discussed creating a Centre of Excellence on Green Hydrogen. Joshi encouraged Danish companies to participate in India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Vikasit Bharat’ initiatives by co-developing technology and setting up joint ventures.

RE-INVEST 2024 Event Details

The 4th RE-INVEST Global Renewable Energy Meet and Expo is being held from September 16 to 18, 2024, at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. The event features over 40 sessions, 25,000 delegates from 140 countries, and more than 200 speakers. Partner countries include Australia, Denmark, Germany, and Norway, while partner states include Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana.

High-level delegations from the USA, UK, Belgium, European Union, Oman, UAE, Singapore, and Hong Kong are also attending. This is the first time the RE-INVEST Summit is being hosted outside Delhi, in Gujarat.
