Minister Pabitra Margherita’s Official Visit to Mexico, Grenada, Barbados, and Antigua and Barbuda
Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, will embark on a nine-day official visit to Mexico, Grenada, Barbados, and Antigua and Barbuda from September 30 to October 8. During this visit, he will meet with foreign ministers, political, trade, and industry leaders, ITEC alumni members, and the Indian diaspora. He will also visit bilateral project sites.
Margherita will represent India at the swearing-in ceremony of Claudia Sheinbaum as the President of Mexico on October 1. This visit to Grenada will be the first ministerial-level visit from India since May 2018 and the second ever. In Barbados, he will visit places of bilateral interest, and in Antigua, he will hold bilateral meetings.
The visit aims to deepen the relationship between India and Latin America and the Caribbean, bolstering political, economic, and cultural ties. Margherita assumed his role as MoS for the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Textiles in June this year. He previously visited the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, and Trinidad and Tobago in August, where he interacted with the Indian diaspora and paid tributes at statues of Mahatma Gandhi.
