On July 25, amid opposition protests, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay for his remarks during a budget discussion in Lok Sabha on July 24. Rijiju stated that such remarks should not be made by any member and that the Speaker has the power to take action.

Abhijit Gangopadhyay, a former judge of the Calcutta High Court and BJP MP from West Bengal, had a fiery exchange with Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi during his maiden speech in Parliament. His remarks, which were later expunged, invited criticism from opposition members who demanded an apology from Gangopadhyay and the government.

Speaker Om Birla emphasized that all members should make remarks in keeping with the dignity of the House. He warned that no member should challenge the remarks of the Chair and should maintain the dignity of the House. Despite the warning, opposition members continued to protest.
