Minister Jitin Prasada Shares Success of Digital Literacy Program in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi [India], July 26: Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Jitin Prasada, informed the Rajya Sabha about the achievements of the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan. The program enrolled 7.35 crore candidates, trained 6.39 crore, and certified 4.78 crore individuals.

The initiative aims to promote digital literacy in rural India. Beneficiaries received 20 hours of training covering topics like digital devices, internet usage, and cashless transactions. The training was available in 22 scheduled languages and English, both online and offline.

Certificates were issued by recognized agencies such as the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Haryana Knowledge Corporation Limited (HKCL), and ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu (ICTACT). These certificates were uploaded to the candidates’ Digi-Locker accounts.

Additionally, NIELIT is offering various skill development programs in IT and electronics through its 52 centers, over 720 accredited institutes, and more than 9,500 facilitation centers.
