Military Intelligence and Pune Police Uncover Illegal Arms Racket

In a collaborative effort, the Southern Command Military Intelligence unit and Maharashtra Police have dismantled an illegal arms racket involving nine men from Jammu and Kashmir. These individuals allegedly used fake firearm licenses to secure jobs as armed security guards in banks and security agencies across Ahilyanagar, Pune, and nearby areas.
Details of the Operation
The operation, conducted in Ahilyanagar, Shrigonda, Sonai, and Pune, led to the arrest of the accused, all residents of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. The police seized nine 12-bore rifles, counterfeit arms licenses, and 58 live cartridges. The accused had been working as security guards since 2015.
Legal Actions and Investigation
An FIR was filed at Tofkhana police station under various IPC sections and the Arms Act. The police stated that the case does not seem to have any terror links and appears to be motivated by the desire for high-paying security jobs. The investigation is ongoing to trace the source of the firearms and the extent of the racket.

The arrested individuals include Shabbir Mohammad Gujjar, Mohammad Salim alias Saleem Gul, Mohammad Safraz, Jahangir Zakir, Shahbaz Ahmed, Surjeet Singh, Abdul Rashid Chidiya, Tuefel Gazia, and Sher Ahmed Ghulam Hassan. Sher Ahmed Ghulam Hassan is identified as the main facilitator for acquiring fake licenses and rifles. Verification from Rajouri district officials confirmed the licenses were forged.
