Mihir Shah Sent to Judicial Custody in Worli Hit-and-Run Case

Mihir Shah, the accused in the high-profile Worli hit-and-run case, was presented before the Sewri court on Tuesday. The court denied the police’s request for further custody and sent Shah to judicial custody for 14 days, until July 30.

According to the police, Shah has refused to answer critical questions about his actions and whereabouts after the crime. He has not disclosed why he fled the scene, where he disposed of his car’s number plate, or the identities of those who allegedly harbored him while he was on the run.

The defense lawyer argued that Shah had already been in custody for seven days and had provided all necessary information. The lawyer also noted that 27 witnesses, including a barber who shaved Shah while he was on the run, had already recorded their statements.

The police emphasized the need for more information to continue their investigation. They revealed that Shah had consumed alcohol at two different places on the night of the incident. Shah was arrested in Virar and brought to Sewri court in Mumbai.

The incident occurred on July 7, when a luxury car allegedly driven by Shah hit a scooter on Dr. Annie Besant Road in Worli. The scooter was carrying a couple, and the woman died during treatment while her husband sustained injuries. The car belonged to a political leader from Maharashtra’s Palghar.
