Welcome to Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary
Located in Assam’s Morigaon district, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is renowned as the ‘Home of the one-horned rhinoceros’. With the arrival of winter, the sanctuary has become a hotspot for migratory birds.
Arrival of Migratory Birds
According to Pranjal Baruah, the Forest Ranger, migratory birds began arriving from late October and early November. These birds travel thousands of miles from Europe, America, and the Tibetan region. The peak arrival is expected in December, with more birds anticipated than last year.
Bird Species and Monitoring
Last year, around 69 species of birds visited the sanctuary. The sanctuary is under constant monitoring, with 25 anti-poaching camps ensuring the safety of the wildlife.
Tourism at Pobitora
