Mehbooba Mufti Calls for India-Pakistan Dialogue
Visit to Dr. Shahnawaz Dar’s Residence
On October 23, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti visited the home of Dr. Shahnawaz Dar in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Dar was tragically killed by terrorists in Ganderbal on October 20.
Appeal for Peace
Mufti emphasized the need for India and Pakistan to engage in talks to end the ongoing “bloodshed” in Jammu and Kashmir. She expressed concern that the people of the region are caught in the crossfire between the two nations, leading to loss of life and property.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir are stuck between the enmity of two countries,” Mufti stated. She urged both nations to follow the path of reconciliation, similar to efforts made during the tenure of former Prime Minister Vajpayee, to prevent further suffering.
Condolences from Omar Abdullah
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also visited Dr. Dar’s residence to offer his condolences. The attack on October 20 resulted in the deaths of a doctor and six construction workers at a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway. This incident has raised serious concerns due to its targeted nature.
