Meghalaya Imposes Night Curfew Along India-Bangladesh Border Amid Crisis in Bangladesh
Due to the ongoing crisis in Bangladesh following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation, the Meghalaya government has imposed a night curfew along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong announced the curfew, which will be in effect from 6 pm to 6 am within 200 meters of the border. The Border Security Force (BSF) has been instructed to deploy all personnel on border duty. Meghalaya shares a 443 km border with Bangladesh.

The curfew will be enforced from 6 pm to 6 am every day until the situation improves. It will cover an area up to 200 meters inside Indian territory from the international border. The BSF has directed all field commanders to remain ‘on the ground’ and deploy all personnel immediately on border duty. The Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Frontier, Harbax Singh Dhillon, and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong took stock of the situation and instructed the necessary measures.
