Tragic Losses in West and South Garo Hills
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma visited areas affected by landslides and floods in Dalu, West Garo Hills, and Atisia Songmong in South Garo Hills. He provided financial aid to families who lost loved ones in these disasters.
Support for Affected Families
At least 15 people have died due to recent floods and landslides. The Chief Minister visited several villages, offering condolences and financial support. In Tura, he gave Rs 8 lakh to the family of Bijoy Marak, a teacher who died with his son in a flood. In Dalu, he met the family of Sanira Marak, an 18-year-old landslide victim, and provided Rs 4 lakh. He also visited the family of Miando P Marak, a 5-year-old who died in a landslide, and expressed his sorrow.
Relief Efforts and Damage Assessment
Conrad K Sangma assessed the damage and met with affected residents. In Dalu C&RD Block, 2,630 households have been impacted, and six lives have been lost. The District Administration has established 68 relief camps to support those affected.
