Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma Visits Pineapple Festival in Delhi

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma visited the state’s pineapple festival held in Delhi. He explained that the festival was organized because the supply of pineapples in metro cities is less than the demand, causing losses for state farmers. Meghalaya produces around 40,000-45,000 metric tonnes of pineapples, but much of it goes unsold. The festival aims to connect farmers and entrepreneurs with urban markets.

Union Minister for the Development of the North East Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, launched the North East Region Agri Commodity E-Connect (NERACE) app. This app is designed to benefit farmers by positioning the region as a hub for high-value horticultural products in the international market. Scindia expressed his excitement about the app on social media, stating it will make North East farmers reliable partners in the global agri value chain.

Scindia also met with CM Sangma to discuss future plans for making Meghalaya more prosperous, focusing on the vision of creating a developed Northeast under PM Modi’s Vikshit Bharat resolution.
