Mayawati Reviews BSP’s 2024 Election Defeat in Lucknow Meeting

BSP chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati called a meeting in Lucknow to review the party’s defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The meeting was attended by district-level officials, senior party leaders, and workers from across the state.

Focus of the Meeting

The main focus of the meeting was to understand why the party did not win any seats in the general elections and to discuss strategies for the upcoming 2027 assembly elections. Party leaders and officials, including BSP coordinators and district presidents, were present.

Key Attendees

Akash Anand, who was previously removed from the post of national coordinator, was also expected to attend the meeting. The opposition INDIA bloc, which includes Congress and SP, won 43 seats in Uttar Pradesh, while the BJP secured 33 seats, a significant drop from their 2019 tally of 63 seats.

Upcoming Uttarakhand Assembly By-Elections

On Saturday, the BSP released a list of 13 star campaigners for the upcoming Uttarakhand Assembly by-elections. The list includes Mayawati and her nephew Akash Anand, along with other prominent party members. Voting for the Badrinath and Manglaur seats will take place on July 10, with results announced on July 13.

The Badrinath seat became vacant after Congress MLA Rajendra Bhandari resigned and joined the BJP, while the Manglaur seat became vacant following the death of BSP MLA Sarwat Karim Ansari.
