Mayawati Pays Tribute to K Armstrong, Urges CBI Probe in Chennai

BSP leader Mayawati paid floral tribute to K Armstrong, the slain Tamil Nadu BSP Chief, at Corporation School Ground in Chennai. She urged the state government to refer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Armstrong was killed near his home by unidentified men. BSP National Coordinator Akash Anand also paid tribute.

Mayawati described the incident as ‘saddening’ and ‘devastating,’ emphasizing Armstrong’s dedication to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the movement led by Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar. She appealed to the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government to ensure law and order and to make weaker sections feel safe.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), North Chennai, Asra Garg, stated that eight suspects have been arrested. The police seized seven blood-stained weapons, a Zomato t-shirt, a Zomato bag, and three bikes used in the crime. The murder is suspected to be a revenge killing linked to the assassination of gangster Arcot Suresh in August 2023, which Armstrong was believed to have conspired.
