Mayawati Names Nephew Akash Anand as Successor After Election Setback

BSP chief Mayawati has announced her nephew, Akash Anand, as the national coordinator and her successor. This decision follows the party’s recent defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Earlier, Mayawati had removed Akash from the same position, citing his need for maturity.

The announcement was made during a key meeting attended by district officials and senior party leaders. This was the first major national-level meeting of the party after the recent general elections to the 18th Lok Sabha in the country.

Additionally, Mayawati and Akash are listed as star campaigners for the upcoming Uttarakhand Assembly by-elections.
