Mayawati, the National President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), took to her social media account X to criticize the Congress government in Karnataka. She commented on the decision to provide 50% reservations for local people in administrative posts and 75% in non-administrative posts in private companies, calling it a dispute of right and wrong.
She further accused the government of withdrawing the decision under pressure from industrialists, likening them to BJP supporters. On July 17, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah announced the reservation bill but later put it on hold, stating it would be revisited in the next cabinet meeting.
BJP leader CT Ravi criticized the move, calling it a diversion tactic and accusing the government of not addressing the closure of Kannada schools.
