Mayank Yadav Shines in T20I Debut Against Bangladesh

Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh

Indian pacer Mayank Yadav made a remarkable T20I debut against Bangladesh in Gwalior. After missing a potential breakout season in the Indian Premier League due to injury, the 22-year-old donned the Indian jersey for the first time. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav entrusted him with the ball in the final over of the powerplay.

Mayank seized the opportunity, delivering a maiden over with his impressive pace and precision, making him the third Indian to achieve this feat in his first T20I over. He took a wicket and conceded only 21 runs in his four-over spell, maintaining an economy rate of 5.20. His first T20I victim was Bangladesh’s seasoned all-rounder Mahmudullah, who was caught by Washington Sundar at deep point.

Mayank’s performance contributed to India’s 7-wicket victory in the series opener, as Bangladesh was restricted to 127 runs. India comfortably chased down the target with several overs to spare. Before Mayank, Ajit Agarkar and Arshdeep Singh were the only Indians to bowl a maiden in their first T20I over, achieving this in 2006 and 2022, respectively.
