Maulana Yasoob Abbas, the General Secretary of the All India Shia Personal Law Board, announced that the board is against the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) because it interferes with personal laws and beliefs. He emphasized that the Muslim community has its own laws for marriage, divorce, and inheritance, which should not be altered by UCC.

The board held a national executive meeting to discuss the UCC and arrangements for Muharram. They decided to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to voice their concerns about the UCC. Maulana Abbas mentioned that both the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and the All India Shia Personal Law Board have consistently opposed the UCC.

Additionally, the board wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi on June 30, requesting better arrangements for the Muharram processions. They asked for security measures to prevent disturbances and for water sprinkling arrangements due to the intense heat. They also highlighted the need for safety measures to prevent electrocution from electric wires during the processions.
