Massive Sinkhole and Heavy Rainfall Cause Chaos in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Gujarat experienced a dramatic event when a large sinkhole appeared on a road in Shela due to heavy rainfall. The sinkhole, which looked like a crater, caused water to flow into the cavity, creating a striking visual that quickly spread on social media.

Flooding and Waterlogging

In addition to the sinkhole, the rainwater also flooded the underpass near Pathik Ashram, which had to be pumped out using a water bowser. Many areas in Ahmedabad faced waterlogging, with cars and two-wheelers struggling through knee-deep water on major roads. Trees were uprooted in KK Nagar, damaging two cars.

Weather Forecast

The weather department has forecasted rainfall across Gujarat for the next five days, issuing an orange alert for Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, and Dadra Nagar Haveli. IMD Scientist Pradeep Sharma confirmed the warning, highlighting the potential for very heavy rain in Saurashtra and Kutch.
