Massive Fire at Grocery Shop in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir
A large fire erupted at a grocery shop in the Bramri area of Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army reported that the fire started around 10:30 pm on Tuesday and quickly spread to nearby houses. Fortunately, there were no casualties or harm to animals.
Swift Response and Evacuation
The Indian Army’s Hamdard-e-Kupwara (41 RR) unit responded promptly after receiving information from the local Sarpanch. They arrived at the scene with their resources and successfully evacuated all residents with the help of locals.
Firefighting Efforts
The Kupwara Fire Station and Payarpora Sub Station coordinated the arrival of fire engines. Two fire engines came from Payarpora, and two more arrived from Kupwara and Trehgam around 12:15 am. The fire was completely extinguished by 02:30 am through the combined efforts of the Kupwara Fire Brigade, locals, and the Indian Army.
Damage Assessment
The fire caused significant damage to the personal property of four houses, one shop, and one animal shelter. More details are awaited as investigations continue.
