Mark Wood Joins England Squad for Second Test Against West Indies
Pacer Mark Wood has been added to England’s Test squad for the second Test against West Indies, starting from July 18 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced Wood’s inclusion, replacing legendary pacer James Anderson, who retired from international cricket after the first Test at Lord’s.
Anderson ended his final Test with figures of 1/26 and 3/32, concluding his career with 704 Test wickets, the third-highest in history. He debuted at Lord’s in 2003 and retired on a high note with a win by an innings and 114 runs.
Young pacer Gus Atkinson made a remarkable debut in the first Test, taking 12 wickets for 106 runs, including a seven-wicket haul in the first inning, marking the fourth-best figures by a debutant in Test history.
