Manu Bhaker, an Indian shooter, made history by winning a bronze medal in the Women’s Air Pistol event at the Paris Olympics. This is the first time in 20 years that an Indian woman has won a medal in shooting at the Olympics.

Historic Achievement

NRAI president Raninder Singh congratulated Bhaker and her coach Jaspal Rana for this fantastic achievement. He said, “It is a fantastic achievement…It is the first female in a pistol rifle after 20 years…Congratulations to her and her coach…”

Event Details

Bhaker scored 221.7 points to secure the bronze medal. South Korea’s Ye Jin won the gold medal with an Olympic record of 243.2 points, and Kim Yeji took the silver with 241.3 points.

Qualification Round

On the opening day, Bhaker finished third in the qualification round of Women’s 10 Metre Air Pistol to qualify for the final. Unfortunately, Rhythm Sangwan, another Indian shooter, finished in 15th place and did not make it to the final.
