Former India head coach Rahul Dravid congratulated Manu Bhaker for her outstanding achievement at the Paris Olympics. The 22-year-old Indian shooter won a bronze medal in the 10 Metre Women’s Air Pistol event, becoming the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting at the Olympics.

Dravid praised Bhaker’s performance, highlighting her ability to overcome past failures, including a pistol malfunction at the Tokyo Olympics. He said, “To come here and to be able to get over her past failures and win a bronze medal is a phenomenal achievement which takes years of sacrifice… The Olympics is the pinnacle of a lot of sports… To be able to put that performance at such a young age under so much pressure is commendable. I congratulate her. She has inspired so many young people back home in India.”

Bhaker scored 221.7 points in the final, securing India’s first medal in the ongoing event. South Korea’s Ye Jin won the gold medal with an Olympic record of 243.2 points, while her compatriot Kim Yeji took the silver with 241.3 points.

On the opening day, Bhaker finished third in the qualification round to make it to the final. Unfortunately, another Indian shooter, Rhythm Sangwan, finished in 15th place and did not qualify for the final.
