Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, expressed his pride and congratulated Manu Bhaker for her skill and dedication. He shared his congratulations on his official X account, calling it a proud moment for the country.

Bhaker’s score of 221.7 secured India’s first medal at the ongoing event. This achievement is even more special as it comes after her pistol malfunctioned at the Tokyo Olympics. She is the first Indian woman in 20 years to reach a shooting final in an individual event since Suma Shirur in 2004.

South Korea’s Ye Jin won the gold medal with an Olympic record score of 243.2 points, while her compatriot Kim Yeji took the silver with 241.3 points.

Qualification Round

On the opening day, Bhaker finished third in the qualification round of Women’s 10 Metre Air Pistol to qualify for the final. Unfortunately, another Indian shooter, Rhythm Sangwan, finished in 15th place and did not make it to the final.
