Manu Bhaker Meets Nitin Gadkari After Winning Two Bronze Medals at Paris Olympics
Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker met Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi. Bhaker won two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics in the individual 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol (mixed team) events.
Sharing a picture with Bhaker, Gadkari praised her ‘outstanding accomplishments’ and expressed national pride. He wrote, ‘Delighted to meet Manu Bhaker, nation’s extraordinary shooter, who etched her name in history with Bronze medals at the Paris Olympics. Her outstanding accomplishments have filled India with pride. Here’s to her continued success and many more remarkable achievements in the future.’
Earlier, the 22-year-old shooter from Haryana also met former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Congress MP Deepender Hooda. Congratulating Bhaker, MP Deepender Hooda said, ‘We congratulate our sister Manu Bhaker who has increased the pride of the country. The first player of independent India who has won two medals in the same Olympics, this is no less a matter of pride for us.’
Bhaker also met Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. She opened India’s medal tally in the ongoing Olympics by securing third place in the women’s individual 10m Air pistol event, becoming the first-ever woman shooter to win an Olympic medal for India. Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol (mixed team) event, marking India’s first-ever shooting team medal. She narrowly missed out on a third medal, finishing fourth in the women’s 25m pistol shooting event.
