Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], August 21: Indian shooter and double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker joined the celebrations at the launch of Velammal’s ‘Vision for Olympic Medal 2032’ in Chennai. She showcased her dance moves during the event.

Manu Bhaker’s Historic Achievements

At the Paris Olympics, Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian to win two medals at the same Olympics. She and her partner Sarabjot Singh secured bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed team event, defeating South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin 16-10 in the bronze medal play-off match. Both shooters consistently hit regular 10s to claim India’s second medal.

Bhaker also opened India’s medal tally by securing third place in the women’s individual 10m Air Pistol event, becoming the first-ever woman shooter to win an Olympic medal for India. She narrowly missed out on a historic grand treble, finishing fourth in the women’s 25m pistol shooting event.

Other Indian Achievements at the Paris Olympics

Neeraj Chopra secured a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw with a best throw of 89.45 meters. The Indian men’s hockey team, led by Harmanpreet Singh, won back-to-back bronze medals for the first time in 52 years, defeating Spain 2-1. Wrestler Aman Sehrawat secured a bronze medal with a 13-5 victory over Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz, marking India’s first wrestling medal at the Paris 2024 Games.

India ended its campaign at the Paris Olympics with six medals, including five bronze and one silver.
