Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh made history by winning a bronze medal in the 10 m air pistol mixed team event at the Paris Olympics. This is India’s first-ever shooting team medal in Olympic history.

Manu Bhaker also won a bronze in the women’s individual 10 m air pistol event, making her the first Indian woman to win two medals in a single Olympics. She joins an elite group of Indian athletes with multiple Olympic medals, including PV Sindhu and Sushil Kumar.

Nita Ambani, a member of the International Olympic Committee and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, congratulated the duo and expressed hope for Manu to complete her hat-trick of medals. She said, “Our athletes create history again with India’s first-ever medal in a mixed-team event at the Olympics! In the bronze medal play-off match, Manu and Sarabjot defeated South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin 16-10. Both athletes shot consistently with regular 10s in the series against the Koreans. This victory increases India’s medal tally to two at the Paris Olympics.

Earlier in the 1900 Olympics, Norman Pritchard won two medals while representing India, both silver in the 200 m and 200 m hurdles. Manu Bhaker’s achievement is a significant milestone for Indian sports.
