Manish Sisodia Visits Raj Ghat After Release from Jail

Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), visited Raj Ghat in New Delhi on Saturday. This visit came a day after his release on bail from Tihar Jail, where he had been held for 17 months in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case.

Senior AAP leaders accompanied Sisodia to Raj Ghat, where they paid their respects at the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Earlier, Sisodia had visited a Hanuman temple in the city. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “Lord Bajrang Bali has blessed me. Arvind Kejriwal also has blessings of Lord Bajrang Bali and you will see that Kejriwal ji will also be blessed in the same way.”

Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj, who accompanied Sisodia to the temple, added, “Whenever any crisis has come upon the Aam Aadmi Party, Hanumanji has removed it. That is why we have come here to seek the blessings of Hanumanji.”

Early in the morning, Sisodia shared a photograph on social media of him having tea with his wife, captioning it as his “first tea of an independent morning… after 17 months!” He reflected on the freedom guaranteed by the Constitution and the blessings of God.

Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in February 2023 for alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy. On August 9, Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel thanked the Supreme Court for granting Sisodia bail, calling it a “victory of justice.”

AAP leaders Atishi and Sanjay Singh, along with other party members, celebrated Sisodia’s release outside Tihar Jail. Sisodia credited the Constitution, written by Babasaheb Ambedkar, for his release and expressed confidence that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would also be freed soon.

“I have come out of jail due to your love, God’s blessings, and the power of truth, and biggest of all, the dream of Babasaheb that if any dictatorial government comes to power and puts Opposition leaders behind bars by forming dictatorial laws, then this country’s Constitution will protect them,” Sisodia said. He assured party workers that Kejriwal would also be released with the power of the Constitution.
