Manish Sisodia Released from Jail, Visits Raj Ghat and Hanuman Mandir
Manish Sisodia, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was released from Tihar Jail on August 9 after being granted bail by the Supreme Court. The court imposed conditions such as surrendering his passport and not influencing witnesses.
On August 10, Sisodia, along with AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Atishi, met his lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Earlier, he visited Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place to offer prayers. Sisodia expressed hope that Arvind Kejriwal would also be released soon, saying, “Lord Bajrang Bali has blessed me. Arvind Kejriwal also has the blessings of Lord Bajrang Bali, and you will see that Kejriwal ji will be blessed in the same way.”
Sisodia shared a photograph on social media of him having his first morning tea with his wife after 17 months, captioning it “first tea of an independent morning.. after 17 months!” He reflected on the freedom guaranteed by the Constitution and the freedom to breathe in open air.
Sisodia was arrested in February 2023 by the CBI for alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of Delhi’s excise policy, which was later withdrawn amid allegations of foul play by the opposition. The CBI claimed that Sisodia played a vital role in the criminal conspiracy related to the policy.
