Manish Sisodia Blames BJP for Rising Pollution in North India
On Monday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government for the increasing pollution in North India. Sisodia emphasized that air pollution is a national issue, affecting not just Delhi but the entire region. He urged the BJP to take the problem seriously and not to politicize it. Sisodia questioned the central government's actions over the past seven to eight years, noting an increase in stubble burning, particularly in BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accused AAP and Arvind Kejriwal of failing to address Delhi's severe pollution and the Yamuna River's contamination. Poonawalla claimed that AAP has not taken action against pollution and has remained silent on stubble burning in Punjab after coming to power there.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 4 in Delhi NCR due to the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching the 'severe plus' category, with levels rising to 457.
