Faridabad (Haryana) [India], August 30: Indian Paralympian shooter Manish Narwal has won a silver medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 with a score of 234.9 points. His mother, Santosh, expressed her joy, saying, “I am feeling very happy and proud as my son has won a medal for the country.”

Narwal’s father, Dilbagh, also shared his happiness, acknowledging the support and prayers from the nation. He said, “I extend best wishes to everyone. He was able to win a medal due to the prayers of the entire nation. I am feeling very happy and proud.”

Despite dropping to sixth place during the match, Narwal finished strong, securing the second spot. South Korea’s Jeongdu Jo won the gold medal with 237.4 points, while Chao Yang of China took the bronze with 214.3 points.

Other Indian Achievements

Earlier in the day, Avani Lekhara won gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final, and Mona Agarwal secured the bronze in the same event. Para sprinter Preethi Pal also won a bronze medal in the women’s T35 100m race.

India started the Paris Paralympics on a high note, with two medals in the women’s 10m air rifle event. Avani Lekhara secured the top spot in the final.

India’s Largest Paralympics Contingent

This year, India has sent its largest Paralympics contingent ever, with 84 athletes across 12 sports. The country aims to surpass its previous achievements in Tokyo 2020, where India won 19 medals, including five golds, eight silvers, and six bronzes.
