On October 23, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced several major national highway projects in the state. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for their support. The Chief Minister revealed that 28 significant national highway projects are underway, along with a new Rs 1,000 crore road project to improve urban infrastructure.

He shared, “Pleased to share that 28 major NH projects are in progress across Manipur. A new Rs 1,000 crore road project is also set to begin soon, bringing much-needed infrastructure to both urban areas and hill district headquarters.”

Additionally, Biren Singh mentioned that around 700 permanent houses have been built for displaced persons, with 7,000 more homes approved by the Centre for temporary accommodation in relief camps. He thanked PM Narendra Modi and HM Amit Shah for their support in restoring normalcy.

Earlier, a significant meeting took place involving elected members from Kuki-Zo-Hmar, Meitei, and Naga communities to discuss the situation in Manipur. This marked the first direct discussions between these communities since the crisis began on May 3, 2023. The meeting, organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs, aimed to promote peace and dialogue among the communities.
