Manipur Restores Internet and Mobile Data Services
The Manipur government has decided to restore internet and mobile data services after assessing the current law and order situation. The services were initially suspended on September 10 and were extended until September 20. However, the suspension has now been lifted in the districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching.
The State’s Home Department issued an order to lift the suspension, which included services like VSAT and VPN. The order stated that the suspension was initially imposed as a preventive measure in the public interest.
On September 13, DIG Manish Kumar Sachar of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) visited Thangkanphai village in Kangpokpi district and Songpehjang relief camp in Saikul Hilltown. He interacted with representatives of the Kuki community, noting that over 100 families are living in the relief camp and their primary wish is to return to their normal lives.
