Imphal (Manipur) [India], September 27: The Manipur Police, along with other security forces, is conducting search and seizure operations in areas affected by firing and other vulnerabilities to ensure peace in the state.

Operations and Recoveries

Security forces have carried out search operations and area domination, leading to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.

Tekcham Maning Ching, Thoubal District

In Tekcham Maning Ching, Thoubal District, the following items were recovered:

  • One 7.62mm SLR with an empty magazine
  • Two SMG carbines with two magazines
  • One .32 Pistol with an empty magazine
  • One 9mm Pistol with an empty magazine
  • One 51mm Para Bomb
  • Four HE-36 hand grenades without detonators
  • Two Tube Launchers
  • Two electronic detonators
  • Five STARDYNE-90 explosives weighing 125 gm each
  • Twelve live ammunition rounds
  • One Stun grenade
  • One Stinger grenade
  • Two 38 mm rubber bullets
  • Three tear smoke shells
  • One Dummy shell
  • One Stun shell
  • Two soft nose tear smoke shells
  • One tear smoke shell
  • One Baofeng set

This operation was conducted by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police.

Nalon, Churachandpur District

In Nalon, Churachandpur District, two large heavy calibre country-made mortars and two No. 80 grenades were seized by the Army, BSF, and Manipur Police.

Haraothel and Lambung Hill Top, Kangpokpi District

In Haraothel and Lambung Hill Top, Kangpokpi District, one locally made improvised projectile launcher of approximately 2.5 meters in length with a tripod, eleven unused bombs, and ten empty cases were seized by Manipur Police and CRPF.

Suangdai (Tuikui Muallum) Village, Churachandpur District

In Suangdai (Tuikui Muallum) village, Churachandpur District, the following items were recovered by Manipur Police and Assam Rifles:

  • One 9mm Pistol (country-made)
  • One single-barrel gun
  • Myanmar currency amounting to 6200 kyat
  • One BP jacket
  • One camouflage pant
  • One camouflage shirt

Salam Patong Village, Thoubal District

In Salam Patong village under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station, Thoubal District, one IED was recovered by Assam Rifles.

Security Measures

Security forces also conducted search operations and Naka checking in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. According to Manipur Police, the movement of 95 and 303 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively, carrying essential items, was ensured. Strict security measures are in place in all vulnerable locations, and security convoys are provided in sensitive stretches to ensure the free and safe movement of vehicles. A total of 109 Nakas/Checkpoints have been installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley.
