In an ongoing effort to maintain peace, the Manipur Police, along with Assam Rifles, conducted significant search operations in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Manipur’s hill and valley districts. The operations led to the seizure of various weapons, including a tear gas gun, a country-made 9 mm pistol, shotguns, live ammunition, and improvised mortars from Khengmol Hill in Churachandpur District.

Additionally, the movement of 172 and 169 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 and NH-2 was secured. To ensure safety, strict security measures and convoys are in place, with 110 checkpoints established across the state.

In another operation, security forces recovered arms and ammunition, including a Lathode Gun, IED, grenades, and more from Senam village in Tengnoupal District.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed gratitude to the state and central governments for the safe return of two youths abducted from Kangpokpi on September 27, 2024. The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts made to ensure their safe return.

Violence in Manipur began on May 3 last year after clashes during a rally by the All Tribals Students Union protesting the inclusion of the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe category.
