Manipur Congress president Keisham Meghachandra has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Manipur, emphasizing that PM Modi’s silence will not bring a solution to the state’s problems.
Rahul Gandhi’s Visit to Manipur
Meghachandra mentioned that the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, visited the Jiribam district early in the morning. The people of Jiribam were very happy to see him, and they shared their pain and concerns with him. Meghachandra stated, “Rahul Gandhi loves the people of Manipur.”
Rahul Gandhi also visited the relief camp at Phubala High School in Moirang, where he met victims of the Manipur violence and offered support. The Congress party posted on X about his visit, highlighting his commitment to the people’s cause.
Meeting with Governor Anusuiya Uikey
The Congress party also visited Raj Bhavan in Imphal to meet Governor Anusuiya Uikey earlier in the day.
Efforts to Normalize the Situation
Prime Minister Modi, during his address in the Rajya Sabha, reaffirmed that the central government is making efforts to normalize the situation in Manipur. He mentioned that over 11,000 FIRs have been registered and more than 500 people have been arrested. The government is working with all stakeholders to restore peace in the state.
