Manipur CM N Biren Singh Talks About Relief Efforts Led by PM Modi

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced that all relief measures in Manipur are being taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the government’s resolution to speed up the peace process in the state.

Efforts for Peace

Addressing the media, CM N Biren Singh said, “There is no question of the PM coming or not coming. What is being done in Manipur right now – security measures, relief work, development, and peace talks between both communities (Kuki and Meitei) – are all happening under the leadership of the Prime Minister.”

He added, “We adopted a resolution to fasten the process of peace establishment in the state. In the wake of the current situation in Manipur, whatever is being done under the leadership of the Home Minister, or the Prime Minister, we have taken the resolution to review it and bring peace soon. There has been peace here for several days now.”

Rahul Gandhi’s Appeal

Earlier, Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Manipur and listen to the people of the state. He said, “I feel that it is important that the Prime Minister should come here to listen to the people of Manipur and try to understand what is going on in Manipur after all. Manipur is a proud state of the Indian Union and it is very important that the Prime Minister especially, even if it was not a tragedy then also the Prime Minister should have come here. In this huge tragedy, I request the Prime Minister to take one day, or two days of his time and just listen to the people of Manipur. It will provide comfort to the people of the state. We as the Congress party are ready to support anything that improves the situation.”

PM Modi’s Assurance

PM Modi, during his address in the Rajya Sabha last week, reaffirmed that the central government is making efforts to normalize the situation in Manipur.
