Mango Festival 2024 in Khor Fakkan: A Celebration of Fruits and Culture

The third annual Mango Festival 2024 kicked off in Khor Fakkan, UAE, and will run until June 30. The event is organized by the Khor Fakkan Municipal Council, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), and Khor Fakkan City Municipality.

Event Highlights

The festival features over 150 varieties of mangoes and citrus fruits from more than 30 farmers. It also includes an increase in participating agricultural companies and productive families.

Inauguration

The festival was inaugurated by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, and Dr. Rashid Khamis Al Naqbi, Chairman of Khor Fakkan Municipal Council. The opening ceremony was attended by Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director General of the SCCI, and Khalil Mohammed Al Mansouri, Director of Expo Khor Fakkan, along with other local officials.

Activities and Competitions

The festival includes various competitions such as The Mango Mazayna, a contest for the most beautiful mango, a competition for the most beautifully arranged mango basket exclusively for women, and an art competition for children. There are also cultural performances by folk groups and diverse cultural programs.

Educational Workshops

The festival offers educational workshops that provide insights into modern agricultural techniques and crop care, helping farmers enhance their expertise and preserve the UAE’s agricultural heritage.

Economic and Tourism Impact

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais highlighted that the festival supports local farmers, boosts agricultural production and exports, and invigorates tourism and economic activities in Khor Fakkan and the Eastern Region of Sharjah. Dr. Rashid Khamis Al Naqbi emphasized the festival’s role in marketing local agricultural products and providing a platform for farmers to showcase their high-quality produce.

The Mango Festival 2024 is open daily from 16:30 to 22:00, offering a variety of economic and commercial events and activities.
