Man Dies in Police Custody in Guna, Madhya Pradesh

Inspector General Arvind Saxena Speaks

A 25-year-old man named Devendra Pardi, who had a history of crimes like robbery, theft, and attempted murder, died in police custody in Guna, Madhya Pradesh. The incident happened at Myana police station on Sunday.

Inspector General of Police (IG, Gwalior Zone) Arvind Saxena explained that Pardi was brought in for questioning after one of his partners confessed to a theft case. During the interrogation, Pardi complained that his health was getting worse. He was taken to the district hospital in Guna but unfortunately died there.

IG Saxena mentioned that a judicial inquiry is underway, and a Panchnama has been done. The post-mortem of Pardi has been completed, and further actions will be based on the findings of the judicial inquiry.

When asked about the reaction of Pardi’s family, IG Saxena said that people usually gather in such cases and are advised to present their concerns during the judicial investigation and remain calm.

The cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report is released. Interestingly, it was Pardi’s wedding day when he was taken into custody from his house in Bilakhedi village.
