BJP’s Roopa Ganguly Urges Immediate Resignation
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Thursday that she is ready to resign from her post amid ongoing protests by junior doctors in Kolkata over the RG Kar rape-murder incident. Banerjee emphasized her concern for justice for the victim and medical services for ordinary citizens.
Bharatiya Janata Party’s Roopa Ganguly urged Banerjee to resign immediately, stating, “Let us start tomorrow’s day with good news.” Ganguly also asked Banerjee to resign from her position as Health Minister.
Meanwhile, BJP’s Dilip Ghosh claimed that judges are being intimidated in Diamond Harbour, stating, “Judges are being threatened at their homes. Earlier, Trinamool tried to intimidate teachers and doctors too, but couldn’t stop them.”
During a press conference, Banerjee assured that no action would be taken against the protesting doctors, despite the Supreme Court’s verdict. She said, “I tried my best to sit with the junior doctors. I waited 3 days for them to come and settle their problem. Even when they didn’t accept the Supreme Court’s verdict, I waited 3 days with my highest officials. I apologize to the people of this country and the world who are supporting them. We want justice for the victim and for the treatment of common people.”
