Mamata Banerjee Criticizes BJP Over Rising Prices in West Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a press conference to discuss the rising prices of essential items in the state. She criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the central government for failing to control the price hike.

Banerjee stated, “The prices of essential items have hit the roof. Price rise is not a state subject, it is a Central subject. But the central government has consistently failed to control the prices of essential commodities in the country. All of us are suffering because of this.”

She also mentioned that the prices have increased even more in the last 10 days since the new government came to power, suggesting that something must have happened to cause this.

Banerjee blamed the long election process, which lasted almost three months, for the high prices. She criticized the Election Commission for not addressing the issue and accused them of bending to the ruling party’s will.

Despite the monsoons, the prices of vegetables and essential commodities have not decreased. Banerjee listed the increased prices of several vegetables compared to last year and suggested that West Bengal should produce its own onions instead of transporting them from Nashik.

To provide relief to consumers, Banerjee highlighted the Sufal Bangla initiative, which sells essential items at a decreased price of Rs 100 at various outlets. Sufal Bangla is an initiative by the West Bengal government to ensure fresh vegetables are available at reasonable prices at people’s doorsteps.
