New Delhi [India], July 1: Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling BJP on various issues during a debate on President Droupadi Murmu’s address.

Key Issues Raised by Kharge

Kharge criticized PM Modi over the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) paper leak, the arrests of opposition leaders, and the Agnipath scheme. He accused the government of initially denying the NEET paper leak and later accepting irregularities.

He also took a dig at PM Modi’s remarks during election rallies and emphasized that the Constitution and public opinion are paramount.

Constitution and Democracy

Kharge highlighted that the recent elections showed the importance of protecting the Constitution and democracy. He claimed that the common people supported the opposition in this fight.

Relocation of Statues

Kharge questioned the relocation of national leaders’ statues in the Parliament House complex, calling for discussions with the committee. However, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister defended the relocation, stating it was done respectfully and methodically.
