This visit aims to strengthen ties between Karnataka and the Maldives, focusing on information technology, trade, and tourism.

Chief Minister Siddaramiah expressed his pleasure in hosting the delegation, highlighting the First Lady’s connection to Bengaluru as a former student. He emphasized Karnataka’s status as the Silicon Valley of India, with a robust ecosystem for start-ups, Artificial Intelligence, and innovation.

The Chief Minister expressed interest in enhancing trade ties, particularly in promoting Karnataka’s handicrafts and handlooms to tourists visiting the Maldives. He praised Karnataka’s cultural richness, quoting poet Kuvempu’s description of the state as “a garden of peace for all communities.”
