Mahrang Baloch Vows to Continue Baloch National Gathering Despite Crackdown in Gwadar

Baloch activist Mahrang Baloch has pledged to continue the Baloch National Gathering in Gwadar, Pakistan, despite attempts by Pakistani authorities to intimidate participants with guns. Addressing the gathering, she stated, “Pakistan wants to scare us with its guns, conscience-selling soldiers, and death squads. But I am sure that Baloch mothers have given birth to children who will stand in front of bullets.”

Reports have surfaced showing a brutal crackdown on peaceful protesters by Pakistani forces. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) reported that more than ten participants were seriously injured after forces attacked demonstrators. The BYC accused the military of breaking into residential areas, causing damage, and harassing participants, including elderly men, women, and children.

The situation in Gwadar has been described as “extremely tense and dangerous,” with the region under complete siege. The military has sealed Marine Drive and is conducting a brutal crackdown, including abductions and torture of participants. The BYC has called for shutter-down strikes and roadblocks across Balochistan to resist the oppression.

The BYC has urged the international community, the United Nations, and Amnesty International to take notice of the situation and intervene to prevent further bloodshed and loss of life.
